Happy St. Patrick's Day

We have been busy this week completing some Leprechaun activities.  Students created WANTED signs and we posted them around our school!

We also did some How To writing.  Students wrote how they'd catch one.

And of course to top it off, we drank DE-licious Shamrock Shakes!  I continually got thumbs up for how good they tasted.

On Monday, we'll check our trap and see if we were lucky enough to catch one!

Sad, the Dog

A teacher came across this book in the library and I just had to share it with my class.  It's about a dog who is an unwanted gift and he gives himself the name Sad.  The couple doesn't appreciated his many gifts.  They move out leaving the dog behind.  A new boy moves and he soon learns that he's the perfect fit.  At the end of the story, he gets a new name.  I'm a dog lover so this had me almost in tears!

I always review the comprehension strategies we've learned and then have students respond in their notebooks.  I try to do this once a week whole group.  At the bottom, they write how they responded.  Here are a few examples.

Book Character Day

We celebrated Book Character Day on Friday.  Here we are all dressed up!

And let me tell you, nothing made me grouchier then seeing another ladybug in our school!

We also celebrated Kindness Counts.  Copelyn and Nathan were picked for the month!
