ArrRrrr...PIRATES!!

After reading pirate stories this week we wrapped it up with completing some work on the Pros and Cons of being a pirate.

We worked FEVERISHLY on our pirate story today.  The kids completed the illustrations.  Throughout this process I continually heard kids saying how much they loved writing.  Or, "This is fun!"  This made my day especially since I find writing to be the most difficult subject for kids to enjoy.  All the writing and tiring hands!  This is so hard for me to believe because I have ALWAYS LOVED writing.

Here they are at work.  We'll be sharing our book, The Deadly Pirates, with other first grade classes.

Of course I wanted to do an illustration!!

We also completed pirate glyphs this afternoon.  I made a pirate ship and they added their pirates.  Enjoy the pics.

Some weren't done and still have to add finishing touches!

  4. Hi Laurie, I am sending you the Liebster Blog Award. I enjoy your blog. I think you can click on my name and it will bring you to my blog Joyful Learning In KC.

1-Head to my blog and right click on the Liebster Blog Award. Click on "save as" and add it to whatever photo album you have.
2- Go into your blog set-up & click on "design". There will be an area that says "add a gadget". Click on that. A lot of options will come up, but choose "picture". It will then prompt you to choose a picture to add. Select the Liebster Award.

  7. I usually try to incorporate it into our Map Unit. This year they've been right into pirates and most are writing stories during Writer's Workshop. I thought adding it into reading and writing would be fun for them!
