Our First Week Together

The first read aloud this year was, You're Finally Here, by Melanie Watt.  Students turned and talked to share what they had done over the summer.  Look at what they were up to!

We spent time working with our names this week.  We looked at how many letters we had, clapped syllables, and looked at how many vowels we had.  Students created these flowers and added a poem.

Students made a self-portrait, practiced writing their names, and we put our pictures in ABC Order.  I even ran out of room and had to tape some onto our bookcase!

We also read the No David! books which are always a hit.  Students wrote one rule they always follow at school and made their very own David!

We practiced read to self.

We read A LOT of Kevin Henkes' books and made connections to Owen.  They had to write one item that was extremely important to them and create an illustration.

Sasmi wanted to share what she built with the flats and longs during math time today!

Keep checking back for updates!
