Brysin's mom brought in some yummy treats for us to eat so we began our Halloween celebration a bit early.
Yes, they had a bit of a sugar rush but it was the end of the day and I was lucky enough to be sending them home!
Thank you for bringing in the de-licious treats.

Let the WILD Rumpus Begin!!
Library was today and I must tell you library day is a BIG deal for us teachers!! We have more planning time and I copy and prep like crazy for the upcoming week. Today, though, I got distracted and decided to decorate our door. Oh yes, multi-tasking at it's best. By the time I had to meet them for computer lab the majority of the work was done.
I wrote, Where the Wild Things Are and Enter if You Dare on the door.
I think this is how the rest of our week is going to look!! The rest of the pics will be posted tomorrow. But for now, enjoy these WILD THINGS (click the pic to enlarge).
They didn't even need to practice their Wild Thing look.

After reading, I Need My Monster, we drew and painted our very own monsters.

It's Never too Late for a Scary Halloween Story
So I've been meaning to share our class book about Halloween...and now it's November! It's never too late right?
I introduce narrative writing by starting with a class book. Our mini-lesson was a narrative has a beginning, middle, and end. We brainstormed the "Who," "What," "When," 'Where," and "Why" together. Working on wipe off boards we voted on the direction we wanted our story to go.
I quickly, and yes it looked quite messy, wrote it on large chart paper so we could remember from day to day where we left off. Once our story was completed I wrote it on large drawing paper and they illustrated.
I had two students read it at our first grade lunch. They were quite excited to share. I mean our assistant principal turned into a zombie and our principal was a witch. YIKES!! That might not have been the scariest part though. I think the kids and I agreed the scariest part was Mr. Cyr and Ms. Tuell eating ALL of the candy without us!
Sit back and enjoy...oh and I hope you don't get too scared.

Halloween Craze
OhHhhh, is anyone else barely awake, with glazed eyes this week? That's how I've been feeling but it's ALMOST Friday. I'm just trying to survive the week of Halloween. Oh and to top it all off, there's nothing like rain and inside recess to follow up after Halloween night!
Plus, staying up WAAAAY past my bedtime last night to watch the Red Sox's become World Champions has taken its toll! Go Red Sox!!
I managed to watch the entire game and then didn't sleep well the rest of the night. Who doesn't love looking at the clock at various times throughout the night?
But...when a kiddo walked in with this 50 piece bag of chocolate and told me it was ALL mine I thought if I needed it, the sugar rush just might get me through the day. Of course he brought it in for the kiddos but told me I could have my fair share.
Today was a pretty normal day for me (I mean us) but the kids were all a buzz talking about Halloween, costumes, candy...oh my.
Abbie brought the class these adorable spiders on pencils.
