February Recap
Here's a quick look back at February. Students learned a lot about bears! We learned more about Koalas because most students thought they were also a type of bear. They quickly learned that they are not!! Instead, they're called marsupials.
Basant (Olivia's mom) has opened up a catering business, which has worked out well for us because she bakes delicious treats for us to decorate. On Valentine's Day she came in to help us decorate heart cookies. Thank you so much!!

A Winter Storm Watch and Recap of Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day!! Today we celebrated just in case we have a snow day tomorrow. Everyone else seems excited and ready to start vacation but I'd rather be at school. It began snowing right after lunch recess.
A coworker sent me this today and told me I'd be the bottom pic tomorrow morning. My reply to her was, "I hope you're not behind me on the interstate because that snow will come a flying off!"
We also completed some candy heart graphing.

I didn't capture many pics today because I was joining in on the celebration. This is one of my FAVORITE holidays!! Students LOVE giving cards and are so kind each other.
We also completed some candy heart graphing.
Students had to write two sentences about the data they collected. The response above made me chuckle!!
ShhHhh, I'm letting you in a little secret too. Be sure to check the mail this week. I'm hoping all of you receive some LOVE in the mail!!
I'll probably be the only one crossing my fingers tonight, hoping we'll have school tomorrow.

SsHhhhhh, Don't Tell Your Child You Read This!!
SssSShhhh....you can keep a secret right? The kiddos didn't want me to post about this but I just had to share. We wrote our Valentine's Day postcards today. The kids LOVED IT (even though most were begging to have Writer's Workshop). This class just loves to write.
Here are a few examples. Check the mail but PLEASE, OH PLEASE be surprised when it arrives in the mail.

Valentine Day Holder Directions
So in case you're wondering how the kiddos made their Valentine's Day holders I thought I'd add some direction. Hope you can follow them!!
First, get two large pieces of construction paper and fold in half to find the center line.
Then fold the bottom corners up to get the bottom point of the heart.
Fold back the corners and staple. I also staple in the middle.
Have the kids use a pencil to draw the top part of the heart. I told them to make two mountains and then cut.
Hope this helps! The best part was it was quick and they had more time to decorate!

Take the first piece of construction paper and fold it down so you create the part where the kids will write their names.
